DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 900 PM MDT (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Linda was located
near latitude 17.9 North, longitude 113.9 West. Linda is moving
toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h).  A turn toward the
west is anticipated by early Sunday morning, followed by a turn 
toward the west-southwest early next week.
 
Maximum sustained winds have increased to 120 mph (195 km/h) with
higher gusts.  Linda is a category 3 hurricane on the 
Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.  Some additional 
intensification is expected through early Saturday morning, but a 
gradual weakening trend is forecast to commence by Saturday night. 

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles
(205 km).
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 962 mb (28.41 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF:  Swells generated by Linda are expected to affect portions of
the coast of southwestern Mexico and the southern and western coast
of Baja California Sur over the next few days.  These swells are
likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
