SUMMARY OF 900 AM PDT...1600 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...18.9N 115.0W ABOUT 430 MI...690 KM SW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...65 MPH...100 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...NNW OR 330 DEGREES AT 10 MPH...17 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...992 MB...29.30 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 900 AM PDT (1600 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Ivo was located near latitude 18.9 North, longitude 115.0 West. Ivo is moving toward the north-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue for the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is expected over the next couple of days and Ivo is expected to weaken to a tropical depression on Saturday night, and then degenerate into a remnant low by Sunday night. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km) from the center. A Mexican automated station at Clarion Island recently reported sustained winds of 62 mph (99 km/h) and a wind gust of 76 mph (122 km/h). The estimated minimum central pressure is 992 mb (29.30 inches).
