SUMMARY OF 1100 PM HST...0900 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- LOCATION...12.2N 119.3W ABOUT 965 MI...1550 KM SW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...65 MPH...100 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...W OR 280 DEGREES AT 16 MPH...26 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1001 MB...29.56 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM HST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Flossie was located near latitude 12.2 North, longitude 119.3 West. Flossie is moving toward the west near 16 mph (26 km/h) and a turn to the west-northwest is expected later today. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Flossie is expected to strengthen to a hurricane later today, and then is forecast to become a major hurricane Wednesday night. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1001 mb (29.56 inches).
