SUMMARY OF 200 PM PDT...2100 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...18.6N 119.0W ABOUT 660 MI...1060 KM WSW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...40 MPH...65 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...NW OR 315 DEGREES AT 10 MPH...17 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1005 MB...29.68 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Cosme was located near latitude 18.6 North, longitude 119.0 West. Cosme is moving toward the northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h). A motion toward the northwest to west-northwest is expected during the next couple of days accompanied by a gradual decrease in forward speed. Maximum sustained winds remain near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. However, gradual weakening is expected over the next 48 hours and Cosme is expected to become a tropical depression later tonight, and degenerate into a remnant low on Monday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles (205 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
