DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Hector was located
near latitude 14.1 North, longitude 128.8 West. Hector is moving
toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h), and this general motion is
expected during the next several days.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 90 mph (150 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Some strengthening is forecast to begin later
tonight, and Hector could become a major hurricane over the weekend.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles
(110 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 983 mb (29.03 inches).
