SUMMARY OF 200 PM PDT...2100 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...15.8N 116.5W ABOUT 650 MI...1050 KM SW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...110 MPH...175 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...WNW OR 290 DEGREES AT 15 MPH...24 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...964 MB...28.47 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Fabio was located near latitude 15.8 North, longitude 116.5 West. Fabio is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph (24 km/h). A west-northwest to northwest heading at a similar forward speed is forecast over the next several days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 110 mph (175 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is still possible through this evening and Fabio could still become a major hurricane. Steady to rapid weakening is forecast to begin on Wednesday, and Fabio will likely weaken to a tropical storm on Thursday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 964 mb (28.47 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
