DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM AST (0600 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Six was located near latitude 14.4 North, longitude 26.2 West. The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue for the next several days. On the forecast track, the depression will begin to move away from the Cabo Verde Islands today. The system is then forecast to move west-northwestward over the open eastern Atlantic on Sunday and Monday and over the central Atlantic Tuesday and Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm today. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- RAINFALL: The system could produce an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain across the southern Cabo Verde Islands today. WINDS: Tropical storm conditions are expected to diminish over the southern Cabo Verde Islands during the next few hours.
