DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Kay was
located near latitude 22.0 North, longitude 117.1 West.  Kay is
moving toward the west near 7 mph (11 km/h).  A generally
west-northwestward motion is expected for the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with
higher gusts.  Gradual weakening is forecast during the next 48
hours, and Kay is likely to become a post-tropical remnant low by
Tuesday night.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).
