DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Darby was located
near latitude 19.4 North, longitude 134.4 West. Darby is moving
toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h) and this motion is
expected to continue today.  A turn toward the west is forecast to
occur tonight.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Darby
is likely to become a tropical storm later today.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles
(150 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 988 mb (29.18 inches).
