DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Darby was located
near latitude 18.3 North, longitude 127.4 West.  Darby is moving
toward the west near 9 mph (15 km/h).  A westward or west-
northwestward motion at a slightly faster forward speed is expected
during the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 100 mph (155 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Darby
is expected to lose hurricane intensity on Monday.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the
center, and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115
miles (185 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 974 mb (28.77 inches).
