DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Darby was located
near latitude 18.2 North, longitude 126.6 West. Darby is moving
toward the west near 9 mph (15 km/h). This general motion with a
slight increase in forward speed is expected during the next couple
of days.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 100 mph (155 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Continued weakening is forecast during the
next 48 hours, and Darby will likely become a tropical storm by
Monday.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles
(185 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 974 mb (28.77 inches).
