DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Darby was located near latitude 16.1 North, longitude 120.0 West. Darby is moving toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h). A turn toward the west-northwest is expected later today, and this motion should continue through Saturday. Maximum sustained winds are near 90 mph (150 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible today, with weakening expected tonight and Saturday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km).
