DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Ian was
located near latitude 23.5 North, longitude 51.5 West. Ian is moving
toward the north-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). This general
motion is expected to continue through Tuesday, followed by a turn
toward the north on Wednesday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with
higher gusts. Some additional slow strengthening is expected during
the next 48 hours.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 230 miles (370 km),
mainly to the north and northeast of the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
