DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 100 AM PST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Rick was
located near latitude 17.3 North, longitude 117.9 West.  Rick is
moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h).  A turn
toward the northwest with a decrease in forward speed is expected
later today.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 35 mph (55 km/h) with
higher gusts.  Additional weakening is forecast during the next 48
hours, and Rick is expected to become a post-tropical remnant low
tonight or early Monday.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
