A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for...

A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are
possible within the watch area, in this case within the next 24 to
36 hours.

A Tropical Storm Warning may be required for portions of the watch
area later this morning.

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK
------------------------------
At 100 AM CDT (0600 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Marty was
located near latitude 15.5 North, longitude 103.0 West. Marty is
drifting northward near 2 mph (4 km/h), and this general motion is
expected to continue this morning.  A slow motion toward the
northeast is expected by later today and this motion should
continue through Tuesday morning.  On the forecast track, the
center of Marty is expected to move closer to but remain offshore
the southwestern coast of Mexico on Tuesday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher
gusts. Little change in strength is expected through tonight.  The
tropical storm is forecast to weaken on Tuesday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 994 mb (29.36 inches).


HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
WIND:  Tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area
by tonight or early Tuesday.

RAINFALL:  Marty is expected to produce rainfall amounts of 6 to 12
inches over the southern Mexican state of Guerrero through Thursday,
with isolated amounts near 20 inches from the Sierra Madre del Sur
mountains toward the coast.  These rains are expected to produce
life-threatening flash floods and mud slides, especially in areas of
mountainous terrain.
