There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.


DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK
------------------------------
At 400 PM CDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Blanca was located
near latitude 13.1 North, longitude 104.6 West.  Blanca is
currently stationary, and little motion is expected through
Wednesday night.  A northwestward motion is expected to begin by
Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 75 mph (120 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Rapid strengthening is forecast, and Blanca is
forecast to become a major hurricane on Wednesday.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 70 miles
(110 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 989 mb (29.21 inches).


HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF:  Swells generated by Blanca will begin affecting portions of
the coast of southwestern Mexico during the next couple of days.
These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip
current conditions.  Please consult products from your local weather
office.
