DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Kate
was located near latitude 40.7 North, longitude 50.8 West. The
post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the east-northeast near 26
mph (43 km/h).  A turn toward the east-northeast and a decrease in
forward speed are expected during the next day or two.

Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher
gusts.  The post-tropical cyclone is forecast to slowly weaken over
during the next couple of days.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 240 miles (390 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 983 mb (29.03 inches).
