DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Claudette was located near latitude 38.9 North, longitude 64.9 West. Claudette is moving toward the east-northeast near 20 mph (31 km/h). A northeastward to north-northeastward motion with some increase in forward speed is expected during the next day or two. On the forecast track, the center will move southeast of Nova Scotia during the next 24 hours. Maximum sustained winds remain near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Slow weakening is forecast, and Claudette is expected to become a post-tropical cyclone by Tuesday night, and to dissipate on Wednesday. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
