Special Tropical Weather Outlook
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
130 PM PDT Tue Aug 11 2026

For the eastern and central North Pacific east of 180 longitude:

Special outlook issued for second paragraph (Invest EP99).

Central Pacific (CP93):
Showers and thunderstorms remain disorganized in association with a
broad area of low pressure that appears to be reforming about 1200
miles east-southeast of the Hawaiian Islands. Environmental
conditions are forecast to be conducive for further development, and
a tropical depression or storm is expected to form during the next
couple of days while the system begins moving generally
northwestward. Interests in the Hawaiian Islands should closely
monitor the progress of this system.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...high...90 percent.

Western East Pacific (EP99):
Recent satellite-derived wind data indicates that a well-defined
low pressure system has formed in association with an area of
showers and thunderstorms located well to the west-southwest of the
southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula. Any significant
increase in the organization of the showers and thunderstorms would
result in the formation of a tropical depression later today or on
Wednesday. The system is forecast to move northwestward at 5 to 10
mph over the next few days and encounter cooler waters late this
week.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...high...70 percent.
