BASIN...BEGINNING JUNE 1 2008 IN THE ATLANTIC HURRICANE
BASIN...AND CONTINUING THROUGH NOVEMBER 30 2008...THE NWS IS
SEEKING USER FEEDBACK ON AN EXPERIMENTAL GRAPHICAL TROPICAL
WEATHER OUTLOOK /TWO/.
THE GRAPHICAL PRODUCT IS A VISUAL COMPANION PRODUCT TO THE TEXT
TWO. THE TEXT TWO IS AN EXISTING PRODUCT DESCRIBING AREAS OF
DISTURBED WEATHER AND THEIR POTENTIAL FOR TROPICAL CYCLONE
FORMATION. AREAS OF DISTURBED WEATHER MENTIONED IN THE TEXT
PRODUCT ARE HIGHLIGHTED /CIRCLED/ IN THE GRAPHIC AND NUMBERED
...WITH THE NUMBERS CORRESPONDING TO THE ORDER IN WHICH THE
SYSTEMS ARE DISCUSSED IN THE TEXT TWO. THE GRAPHICAL PRODUCT
WILL BE ISSUED FOR THE ATLANTIC AND EASTERN PACIFIC HURRICANE
BASINS.
THE YEAR 2008 IS THE SECOND YEAR OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND A
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD...WITH TWO ENHANCEMENTS FOR THE 2008
EXPERIMENTAL EFFORT AS FOLLOWS:
1. THE GRAPHICAL TWO PRODUCT WILL INCLUDE AN EXPERIMENTAL
3-TIERED GENESIS PROBABILITY FORECAST FOR EACH IDENTIFIED
SYSTEM...WITH PROBABILITY CATEGORIES OF LOW...MEDIUM...AND
HIGH...CORRESPONDING TO PROBABILITIES OF LESS THAN 20
PERCENT...20 TO 50 PERCENT...AND GREATER THAN 50 PERCENT
RESPECTIVELY.
2. THE ISSUANCE OF THE GRAPHICAL TWO PRODUCT INCREASES FROM TWO
TO FOUR TIMES DAILY. FOR THE EASTERN PACIFIC HURRICANE BASIN
...THE NEW ISSUANCE TIMES WILL BE 0500/1100/1700/AND 2300
PACIFIC DAYLIGHT TIME...WHICH CORRESPONDS TO 0400/1000/1600 AND
2200 PACIFIC DAYLIGHT TIME...WHICH CORRESPONDS TO
0400/1000/1600/AND 2200 PACIFIC STANDARD TIME. FOR THE ATLANTIC
HURRICANE BASIN...THE NEW ISSUANCE TIMES WILL BE 0200/0800/1400
AND 2000 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME...WHICH CORRESPONDS TO
0100/0700/1300 AND 1900 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. ALL ISSUANCE
TIMES FOR BOTH BASINS CORRESPOND WITH 0000/06000/1200 AND 1800
COORDINATED UNIVERSAL TIME...CORRESPONDING WITH THE NEW ISSUANCE
TIMES FOR THE TEXT TWO PRODUCT.
