Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas


...GULF OF MEXICO...

Tropical Storm Beta is near 27.6N 94.5W 995 mb at 11 PM EDT moving WNW at 5 kt. Maximum sustained winds 50 kt gusts 60 kt. Beta will move to 28.0N 95.4W Mon morning, 28.5N 96.4W Mon evening, then inland to 28.8N 96.7W Tue morning. Beta will weaken to a tropical depression near 29.1N 96.2W Tue evening, reach 29.5N 95.2W Wed morning, and 30.1N 94.0W Wed evening. Beta will move over Louisiana late Thu. A cold front will continue to move across the eastern half of the Gulf into Mon. Fresh to strong NE to E winds and building seas will follow the front.


...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W...

Tropical Depression has degenerated into a trough of low pressure tonight. The remnants of Wilfred are near 15.9N 47.4W 1008 mb at 11 PM EDT moving W at 15 kt. Maximum sustained winds 30 kt gusts 40 kt. Wilfred will dissipate Mon morning. Swell generated by Hurricane Teddy well north of the area will continue to impact the tropical Atlantic waters through Mon. More northerly swell will likely reach Atlantic waters for the latter half of the week.


...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS...

Hurricane Teddy near 29.4N 63.6W 963 mb at 11 PM EDT moving NNW at 5 kt. Maximum sustained winds 90 kt gusts 110 kt. Teddy will move to 30.9N 63.5W Mon morning, 34.8N 62.9W Mon evening, 38.5N 63.8W Tue morning, and become extratropical and move to 41.3N 64.2W Tue evening. A cold front moving SE through the waters will lead to Gale conditions N of 28N through Mon morning. Long period swell generated by both Hurricane Teddy and this cold front will impact the waters through mid week.
