Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0830 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... A tropical wave is along 95W north of 03N, moving westward at 10-15 kt. Scattered moderate to isolated convection is active from 10N to 15N between 93W and 96W. A tropical wave is near 128W from 04N to 20N, moving westward at 10-15 kt. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 12N to 15N between 128W and 130W. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 11N86W to 14N100W to 1011 mb low pressure near 12N128W to 09N140W. Aside from the convection described in the Tropical Wave section, scattered moderate convection is active from 11N to 14N between 121W and 124W. ...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A surface ridge north of 20N is maintaining moderate to fresh NW winds off the central coast of Baja California, where seas are likely 4 to 6 ft. The pattern is supporting gentle to moderate breezes elsewhere off Baja California, and gentle breezes over the remainder of Mexican offshore waters. Combined seas are 3 to 5 ft elsewhere in open waters, except 1 to 3 ft over the Gulf of California. For the forecast, a surface ridge will continue to dominate the offshore forecast waters of Baja California through the middle of the week, supporting pulses of moderate to fresh NW winds off the coast of Baja California between Cabo San Lazaro and Punta Eugenia, mostly moderate winds and seas elsewhere. Looking ahead, expect fresh northerly gap winds across the Gulf of Tehuantepec by Fri. ...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Scattered moderate convection prevails across portions of the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Light to gentle winds prevail across the area north of the monsoon trough with slight to moderate seas. South of the monsoon trough, moderate S to SW winds are ongoing with moderate seas to 7 ft, highest east of the Galapagos Islands. For the forecast, gentle to moderate winds and moderate seas will persist across the region into mid week. ...REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A surface ridge dominates most of the waters north of 20N and west of 115W. A recent scatterometer satellite pass indicated fresh trade winds from 10N to 20N west of 130W, between the ridge to the north and 1011 mb low pressure along the monsoon trough near 128W. A recent altimeter satellite pass indicated combined seas of 7 to 9 ft in this area, with components of northerly and southerly swell. Gentle to moderate breezes and 5-7 ft seas prevail elsewhere. For the forecast, the surface ridge will continue to build across most of the forecast waters north of 15N and west of 110W through the next few days.
