Significant Swell in NW waters: A broad 1007 mb low pressure system located near 27N132W is producing a large area of 12 to 17 ft seas north of 19N and west of 130W, along with fresh to strong winds. The 12 ft seas will spread as far south as 18N and as far east as 128W tonight. As the low weakens and moves NE, the winds will diminish to fresh to strong speeds, and the seas will subside to 9 to 11 ft by Mon evening in that area. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The equatorial trough extends from 06N77W to 01N96W. The ITCZ stretches from 01N96W to 04N111W to 05N129W. A north-south oriented surface trough is analyzed along 130W, south of 16N. The ITCZ continues from 05N133W to 02N140W. Scattered moderate convection is observed from 02N to 08N and between 106W and 128W. ...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A 1018 mb high pressure system remains positioned to the west of the Baja California peninsula and extends southeastward to the Revillagigedo Islands. Fresh to strong northerly winds and seas of 6-8 ft are present in the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Elsewhere, the weak pressure gradient result in light to gentle winds and slight to moderate seas in the rest of the Mexican offshore waters. For the forecast, fresh to strong N winds and seas to 8 ft will continue across the Gulf of Tehuantepec through tonight. Elsewhere over the Mexican offshore waters, winds should generally remain moderate or weaker through Mon. Winds in the northern Gulf of California are forecast to increase to fresh to strong Mon evening and persist through Tue. Increasing NW to N swell may impact the waters offshore Baja California Norte by early Wed. ...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR Ridging north of the area continues to support fresh to strong easterly trade winds in the Gulf of Papagayo region and downstream to 90W. Seas in these waters are 5-7 ft but will be building to 7-9 ft in the next 6-12 hours. Fresh to locally strong northerly winds and seas of 4-6 ft are present in the Gulf of Panama. Elsewhere, moderate or weaker winds and slight to moderate seas prevail. For the forecast, the high pressure north of the area will sustain pulsing strong to near gale-force winds during the nights and early mornings through at least midweek in the Gulf of Papagayo and downstream waters, with seas 8 to 9 ft through early this week. Northerly winds in the Gulf of Panama will pulse to fresh to locally strong speeds at night through Tue night, then to fresh Wed night. ...REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A broad 1007 mb low pressure system positioned near 27N132W is producing fresh to strong winds north of 22N and west of 128W. Seas in these waters are 12-17 ft, with the highest seas occurring near 25N137W. Seas of 8-12 ft are found north of 17N and west of 124W. The remainder of the basin is dominated by a 1018 mb high pressure system centered west of Baja California. Moderate to locally fresh easterly winds and seas of 6-8 ft are found south of 17N. Elsewhere, moderate or weaker winds and moderate seas prevail. For the forecast, the aforementioned low pressure system will gradually weaken tonight as it moves northeastward, moving north of the area by Mon morning. Fresh to strong winds will continue Mon and Tue north of 25N. The seas in the NW part of the area will mostly subside below 12 ft by Mon evening, but a large area of 8 to 11 ft seas will continue through Tue night west of 120N and north of 05N. The seas will gradually subside Wed into Thu. Fresh NE-E winds will spread downstream from the Gulfs of Tehuantepec and Papagayo, affecting the eastern waters through early this week. Seas of 8 to 9 ft will persist into Mon. Farther west, winds will increase to fresh NE from the ITCZ to 17N and west of 130W early this week with seas to 11 ft in NW to N swell. $$ Delgado
