Tropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from
03.4S to 30N, east of 120W including the Gulf of California, and
from the Equator to 30N, between 120W and 140W. The following
information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,
radar, and meteorological analysis.

Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
1430 UTC.

...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH...

The monsoon trough extends from 08N82W to 06N94W. The ITCZ 
continues from 06N94W to 03N122W to 02S140W. Scattered moderate 
isolated strong convection is noted from 01N to 08N between 80W 
and 90W, and from 05N to 10N between 117W and 125W. 

...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...

Gentle to moderate winds prevail west of the Baja California
peninsula as well as over the Gulf of California. Light to gentle
winds are noted elsewhere. Seas are in the 5-7 ft range over the
open waters north of Cabo Corrientes, and 5-6 ft over the waters
south of Cabo Corrientes. Seas over the Gulf of California are in
the 1-2 ft range. 

For the forecast, moderate to fresh NW to N winds will prevail 
along the Baja offshore waters through the middle of the week, 
briefly increasing to fresh to strong speeds at night N of Punta 
Eugenia tonight through Tue. Gentle to locally moderate winds and
moderate seas will prevail elsewhere through Wed. Reduced 
visibilities in haze should be expected through the weekend in 
the S and SW Mexican offshore waters due to smoke produced by 
agricultural fires.

...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, 
AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR...

Strong to near-gale force winds are over the Gulf of Papagayo
region with seas to 9 ft. Moderate to fresh winds are over and
downstream of the Gulf of Panama. Light to gentle winds prevail
elsewhere, except to moderate speeds south of the Galapagos 
Islands. Outside the seas in the Papagayo region, seas are in the
4-6 ft range. 

For the forecast, fresh to strong gap winds will pulse each 
night over the Gulf of Papagayo region through Tue morning. 
Moderate to fresh northerly winds are expected across the Gulf of
Panama through Mon. Gentle to moderate breezes will prevail 
elsewhere into early this week. A large SW swell will reach the 
Galapagos waters early this week. Reduced visibility in haze will
prevail from Guatemala to Nicaragua through the weekend due to 
smoke produced by agricultural fires.
 
...REMAINDER OF THE AREA...

Moderate to fresh winds are noted from 08N to 21N and west of
115W. Gentle to moderate winds are found from 08N to 11N between
95W and 115W. Light to gentle winds prevail elsewhere. Seas are
in the 7-9 ft range from 07N to 15N and west of 115W. Seas in the
5-7 ft range prevail elsewhere.  

For the forecast, NW to N swell will combine with southerly 
swell to produce seas of 7 to 9 ft between 05N and 18N west of 
110W for the next several days. Winds will freshen winds across 
the tradewind belt south of 20N through at least Mon, helping to 
maintain seas of 7 to 9 ft. Large SW swell will reach the equator
Mon afternoon, building seas to 9 ft Mon night and Tue.
