Tropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from
03.4S to 30N, east of 120W including the Gulf of California, and
from the Equator to 30N, between 120W and 140W. The following
information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,
radar, and meteorological analysis.

Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
1500 UTC.

...TROPICAL WAVES...

The axis of a tropical wave is near 84W north of 01N, moving 
west at around 10 kt. Isolated moderate convection is noted 
north of 05N west of 90W.

...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH...

The monsoon trough extends from Panama near 09N78W over Costa
Rica to 14N94W to 06N128W. The ITCZ extends from 06N128W to
beyond 06N140W. Scattered moderate and isolated front convection
extends from 08N-14N between 92W-105W. Scattered moderate
convection is noted from 05N-07N between 113-121W. Isolated 
moderate convection is noted north of 05N west of 90W.

...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...

A weak pressure gradient between ridging offshore and lower 
pressure over the Baja California peninsula is forcing moderate 
to fresh NW winds over the Baja California offshore zones.
Moderate to fresh SW to W winds are occurring south of the 
monsoon trough over the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Elsewhere winds are
moderate or weaker. Seas are 6-9 ft in the Gulf of Tehuantepec, 
1-3 ft in the Gulf of California, and 4-6 ft elsewhere.

For the forecast, moderate to fresh NW winds off Baja California
Norte will diminish tomorrow as high pressure weakens. 
Elsewhere, winds and seas will be quiescent for the next several 
days. 

...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, 
AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... 

Moderate to fresh SW to W winds are occurring south of the 
monsoon trough over the Guatemala and El Salvador waters.
Elsewhere, winds are moderate or weaker. Seas are 6-8 ft over the
Guatemala and El Salvador waters and 4-6 ft elsewhere.

For the forecast, moderate to fresh SW to W winds and 6-8 ft 
seas over the Guatemala and El Salvador waters will diminish by 
Wed night. Elsewhere, winds and seas should remain quiescent for 
the next several days. 

...REMAINDER OF THE AREA...

Surface ridging extends from a 1021 mb high at 27N143W to
22N118W. The weak pressure gradient between the ridging and the 
ITCZ is forcing only gentle to moderate NE trades. East of 115W,
S to SW winds south of the monsoon trough are moderate to fresh.
Elsewhere, winds are moderate or weaker. Seas are 7-9 ft in the
moderate to fresh S to SW winds and 4-6 ft elsewhere. 

For the forecast, the monsoon trough may weaken slightly
diminishing the S to SW winds equatorward of the trough from Wed
through Sat. Elsewhere no major changes are expected.
