The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0900 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... The axis of a tropical wave is near 83W north of 01N, moving west at around 10 kt. Associated convection is discussed below in the monsoon trough section. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends off the border of Nicaragua/Costa Rica near 11N85W to 14N97W to 08N113W to 06N128W. The ITCZ extends from 06N128W to beyond 06N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 06N to 16N between 82W and 106W and from 05N to 09N between 113W and 122W. ...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A ridge prevails west of the Baja California peninsula. Low pressure prevails across Mexico. The pressure gradient between these features is supporting moderate to fresh winds off the Baja California peninsula. Seas are 5-6 ft. Gentle to moderate winds prevail across the Gulf of California with seas to 3 ft. Moderate to fresh SW winds are moving into the Oaxaca and Chiapas offshores with 8 ft seas in southerly swell. Light to gentle winds prevail elsewhere with 4-6 ft seas. For the forecast, moderate to fresh NW winds will prevail off the Baja California peninsula through Wed night with seas 5-7 ft. Winds and seas will decrease towards the end of the week. Mostly gentle to moderate winds will prevail in the Gulf of California through the week, becoming locally fresh on Thu. Winds are expected to diminish across the Oaxaca and Chiapas offshores later today and remain mostly gentle to moderate through most of the week. The SW swell will subside by Wed. ...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Moderate to fresh southerly winds are noted off the Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua offshore waters. Seas are 6-8 ft in S to SW swell. Light to gentle winds are noted elsewhere across the Central American, Colombia and Ecuador offshore waters with 4-6 ft seas. For the forecast, gentle to moderate SW winds will generally prevail across the Central American offshores through midweek. The swell moving across the Guatemala and El Salvador offshore waters will start to subside by tonight. Winds will become gentle to moderate by midweek tonight and continue through the week. ...REMAINDER OF THE AREA... High pressure of 1023 mb is centered near 27N139W, with associated ridge prevailing across the waters north of 20N. Light to gentle winds are in the vicinity of the high center. Gentle to moderate winds are elsewhere north of the ITCZ and monsoon trough. Fresh winds are noted south of the monsoon trough to 06N between 92W and 104W. This area of winds is enhancing low level convergence, supporting an area of convection south of the monsoon trough as mentioned above. Seas are also 8-9 ft in this area in SW swell. Light to gentle winds prevail south of the monsoon trough and ITCZ west of 105W. Seas are 4-6 ft across most of the basin. For the forecast, the fresh winds south of the monsoon trough will diminish later today. The 8-9 ft seas will subside by tonight. Moderate to fresh northerly winds are expected to continue west of the Baja California offshore waters through the rest of the week.
