Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0230 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 09N84W to 10N106W to low pres near 08N114W to 06N120W. The ITCZ continues from 06N120W to 05N132W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 04N to 12N between 91W and 116W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Fresh to strong NW winds prevail off the coast of Baja California Norte. Fresh to strong winds are also noted over much of the Gulf of California as well as the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Moderate winds are over the waters west of Baja California Sur, with light to gentle winds elsewhere over the open waters off Mexico. Seas are in the 7-9 ft range west of the Baja California peninsula, 4-7 ft over the Gulf of California and Gulf of Tehuantepec, and 4-5 ft elsewhere. For the forecast, fresh to strong winds will prevail over the Gulf of Tehuantepec through early Fri. Fresh to locally strong winds will persist off Baja California through late Fri between high pressure over the eastern Pacific and lower pressure over northern Mexico. NW swell in excess of 8 ft will persist off Baja California through Fri. This pattern will also support fresh to strong winds over the Gulf of California tonight. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Gentle to moderate S to SW monsoonal winds are noted across the South American offshore waters. Light to gentle winds prevail elsewhere, except reaching moderate speeds in the Gulf of Papagayo. Seas are in the 4-6 ft range over the waters between Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands and 4-5 ft elsewhere. For the forecast, moderate to fresh gap winds will prevail across the Papagayo region and southern Nicaragua through early Fri, with fresh to occasionally strong pulses possible Fri night into Sat. Gentle to moderate winds will prevail elsewhere. Long- period southerly swell in the region will build slightly this weekend. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... High pressure prevails over the waters north of 10N and west of 110W. Low pressure has developed within the monsoon trough near 08N114W. Fresh to strong N to NW winds and 7 to 11 ft seas prevail north of the ITCZ and monsoon trough. Gentle to moderate SE winds and 5 to 7 ft seas are noted south of 10N and west of 110W. East of 110W, gentle to moderate winds are noted on either side of the monsoon trough with 4 to 6 ft seas. For the forecast, the area of high pressure will start to weaken Friday into the weekend, allowing for winds and seas to diminish.
