The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 2100 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from Panama near 09N80W to 08N97W to 09N115W. The ITCZ extends from 09N115W to 09N127W to beyond 07N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 03N to 12N between 81W and 136W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO Gale conditions ended this morning in the Gulf of Tehuantepec, but strong winds will prevail into Thu, before diminishing further Thu night. Seas of 8 to 11 ft will prevail into Thu. Moderate NW winds are occurring NW of Punta Eugenia, along with seas of 8 to 10 ft. Gentle to moderate N winds prevail elsewhere W of Baja California, with seas of 4 to 7 ft in NW swell. Mainly gentle winds are occurring in the Gulf of California, with seas of 2 to 3 ft. Light to gentle winds prevail across most of the remaining Mexican offshore waters, outside of the Gulf of Tehuantepec, with seas 4 to 6 ft. For the forecast, fresh to strong northerly winds continue through Thu afternoon in the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Meanwhile, moderate northerly winds will prevail across the Baja California offshores through Thu, increasing to fresh by Thu night. The long- period NW swell will persist NW of Punta Eugenia through the end of the week. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR Light to gentle mainly NE winds prevail N of the surface trough, with gentle to locally moderate S winds to the S of the trough. Fresh winds are prevailing near the Papagayo region and offshore Nicaragua. Seas of 4 to 6 ft in S to SW swell are prevail across the waters, with the exception of 5 to 7 ft seas in mixed swell in the Papagayo region. Scattered moderate convection is noted offshore Costa Rica and Panama. For the forecast, long-period moderate S to SW swell will persist across the region through the week. Fresh easterly winds will continue over the Papagayo region and offshore Nicaragua today and increase strong this evening into Thu morning. Fresh winds will continue in that area on Thu afternoon and Fri. REMAINDER OF THE AREA Moderate to fresh trades prevail N of the ITCZ and W of 120W. Long- period NW to N swell throughout this area is producing seas of 8 to 9 ft. Gentle to moderate winds along with seas of 5-8 ft seas due to long-period S to SW swell are noted elsewhere. For the forecast, the long-period NW to N swell will continue decaying today, which will allow for seas to subside through Thu. The southerly swell should sustain 5 to 7 ft seas across the remainder of the basin through the week.
