The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 2030 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from 09N83W to 09N99W to 06.5N120W. The ITCZ continues from 06.5N120W to 03N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 03N to 08N between 77W and 86W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 03N to 10N between 99W and 121W. Scattered moderate convection is from 04N to 06N between 121W and 131W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO A ridge dominates the offshore forecast waters of Baja California. The pressure gradient between the ridge and relatively lower pressures over Mexico is supporting moderate to fresh NW-N winds over the waters west of the Baja California peninsula. Light and variable winds are over the remainder of the offshore waters. Gentle to moderate winds are over the Gulf of California. NW swell has propagated into the waters off Baja California Norte, with seas building to near 12 ft NW of Guadalupe Island. Areas of haze are offshore the coast of Mexico south of Cabo Corrientes due to nearby persistent agricultural fires. For the forecast, fresh to locally strong NW to N winds will prevail across most of the offshore waters of Baja California tonight into Sat night. Long-period NW swell has propagated into the waters west of Baja California Norte will propagate SE, with seas greater than 8 ft reaching the Revillagigedo Islands by Sat evening. Strong north winds are expected in the Gulf of Tehuantepec region late Tue and Wed. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR Gentle to moderate winds prevail over the waters between Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, with light to gentle winds elsewhere. Seas are 4-6 ft in S to SW swell, reaching 7 ft between Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Haze is possible over the offshore waters of Guatemala and El Salvador due to nearby persistent agricultural fires. For the forecast, long-period S to SW swell prevails across the region. A new set of southerly swell will build seas slightly over the Central American offshore waters tonight and Sat, before subsiding Sat night and into early next week. REMAINDER OF THE AREA High pressure continues over the waters N of 20N. The pressure gradient between the area of high pressure and lower pressure in the vicinity of the ITCZ is supporting moderate to fresh NE trade winds N of the ITCZ to near 25N and west of 120W. Gentle to moderate winds prevail elsewhere. NW swell is propagating across the discussion waters, with seas greater than 8 ft covering the waters northwest of a line from 30N116W to 07N140W, peaking around 14 ft near 29N129W. Seas are 5-7 ft elsewhere. For the forecast, the long-period NW swell will continue to propagate southeastward across the forecast waters. Seas greater than 8 ft will cover much of the forecast waters west of 105W by Sun night before starting to subside. $$ AL
