The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1430 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from 09N83W to 09N98W to 07N119W. The pressure gradient between the ridge and relatively lower pressures over Mexico is supporting fresh to locally strong NW winds over the waters mainly N of Cabo San Lazaro. Seas associated to these winds are in the 5-7 ft range. Gentle to moderate NW-N winds remain elsewhere over the waters west of the Baja California peninsula. Light and variable winds are over the remainder of the offshore waters. Fresh to locally strong winds are over the northern Gulf of California, with light to gentle winds over the remainder of the Gulf waters. NW swell has propagated into the waters off Baja California Norte, with seas building to near 9 ft NW of Guadalupe Island. Areas of haze are offshore the coast of Mexico south of Cabo Corrientes due to nearby persistent agricultural fires. For the forecast, fresh to locally strong NW to N winds prevail across most of the offshore waters of Baja California tonight into Sat night. Long-period NW swell will reach the offshore waters of Baja California N of Punta Eugenia today, building seas to 12 ft by this evening. This swell will propagate SE, with seas greater than 8 ft reaching the Revillagigedo Islands by Sat evening. Strong north winds are expected in the Gulf of Tehuantepec region late Tue. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR Gentle to moderate winds prevail over the waters south of 05N, with light to gentle winds north of 05N. Seas are 4-6 ft in S to SW swell. Haze is possible over the offshore waters of Guatemala and El Salvador due to nearby persistent agricultural fires. For the forecast, long-period S to SW swell will continue to propagate across the region, with a new set of southerly swell reaching the waters between Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands today. This swell will raise seas slightly over the Central American offshore waters tonight and Sat, before subsiding Sat night and into early next week. REMAINDER OF THE AREA High pressure continues over the waters N of 20N, while a dissipating cold front is over the northern waters extending from near 30N120W to 26N140W. The pressure gradient between the area of high pressure and lower pressure in the vicinity of the ITCZ is supporting moderate to fresh NE trade winds N of the ITCZ to near 22N and west of 120W. Winds behind the front are NW to N moderate to fresh east of 134W and N gentle to moderate west of 134W. Gentle to moderate winds prevail elsewhere. NW swell is propagating across the NW waters, with seas greater than 8 ft covering the waters northwest of a line from 30N118W to 08N140W, peaking around 15 ft near 29N130W. Seas are 5-7 ft elsewhere. For the forecast, the long-period NW swell will continue to propagate southeastward across the forecast waters. Seas greater than 8 ft will cover much of the forecast waters west of 105W by Sun night before starting to subside. The cold front will weaken as it reaches the NE waters by early this evening. $$ AL
