Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1520 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from Colombia near 10N75W to 04N83W to 03N113W. The ITCZ extends from 03N113W to 05N134W to beyond 06.5N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 00N to 03N between 91.5W and 103W, and from 04N to 09N between 115W and 136W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO A surface ridge extends from strong high pressure across the NE Pacific south and southeastward through 30N133W to near 24N117W. Across the Baja offshore waters north of 22N, N winds are gentle to moderate, and seas are 4 to 6 ft in NW swell. To the S of 22N, winds are light to gentle and seas are 3 to 6 ft. Inside the Gulf of California, NNW winds continue to gradually diminish, and are moderate across central and southern portions, where seas of 4 to 6 ft persist. Gentle to moderate winds will prevail area wide into late week. A weak cold front will move down the Gulf of California Thu afternoon through Thu night and bring strong winds to the Gulf behind it Thu night into Sat. Seas will build to 8 ft and higher. Looking ahead, strong gales will develop in the Gulf of Tehuantepec Sat and continue through the weekend. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR Moderate to locally fresh E winds are noted across the Papagayo region, with moderate N to NE winds in the Gulf of Panama. Elsewhere, winds are light to gentle with seas of 3 to 5 ft. Gap winds across the Papagayo region will diminish into tonight. N to NE winds in the Gulf of Panama will become light to gentle the remainder of the week. Mainly gentle winds will prevail elsewhere. Fresh to strong gap winds will return to Papagayo Sun evening. REMAINDER OF THE AREA High pressure across the NE Pacific is sinking southward and weakening. The latest surface analysis shows a 1031 mb high now centered near 39N136W with a broad ridge extending south between 115W and 145W. The pressure gradient south of the ridge is supporting widespread mainly fresh NE to E winds between the ITCZ and 20N, to the W of 120W, with gentle to moderate Nto NE winds to the N. Seas are 8 to 11 ft in mixed swell across the trade wind zone, and 6 to 8 ft elsewehre W of 120W. To the S of the ITCZ, gentle to moderate E to SE winds prevail with seas of 5 to 7 ft. The pressure gradient S of 25N and W of 122W will support fresh trades and seas of 8 to 10 ft most of the week.
