The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1440 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from 07N77W to 05N96W. The ITCZ continues from 05N96W to 10N116W to 10N135W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 01N to 06N east of 82W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 08N to 30N between 130W and 138W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO Moderate to fresh NW wind prevails over the northern Gulf of California. Strong to near-gale N winds prevail across the Gulf of Tehuantepec, with seas to 8 ft. Elsewhere offshore Mexico, light to gentle winds are occurring. Seas are 3 to 6 ft, except 2 to 3 ft in the Gulf of California. For the forecast, strong to near-gale winds across the Tehuantepec region will diminish slightly today. Moderate NW winds will prevail over the northern Gulf of California. Gentle to moderate winds will prevail west of Baja California and off Cabo Corrientes. The next gale force gap wind event will develop in the Gulf of Tehuantepec Sat night. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR Fresh to strong winds prevail in the Gulf of Papagayo. Moderate to fresh winds are noted in the Gulf of Panama. Light to gentle winds prevail elsewhere. Seas are in the 5-6 ft range in the Gulf of Papagayo and Gulf of Panama, and 4-5 ft elsewhere. For the forecast, fresh to strong winds will pulse at in the Gulf of Papagayo through early next week. Moderate to fresh winds will pulse in the Gulf of Panama each night through Sat night. Light to gentle winds will prevail elsewhere. REMAINDER OF THE AREA High pressure of 1038 mb is centered well north of the area near 46N133W with ridge extending SE into the waters north of 20N. Low pressure of 1009 mb is centered near 13N139W with surface trough extending NE to 17N134W. The pressure gradient between these features is supporting fresh to strong winds north of the trough to near 20N. Seas are reaching 8 ft over this area. Gentle to moderate winds are just north of the ITCZ. Light to gentle winds, and seas of 5-7 ft prevail elsewhere. $$ AL
