The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0220 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... The axis of a tropical wave is near 100W N of 02N, moving W at 10 to 15 kt. Associated convection is discussed in the monsoon trough section below. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from low pres near 13.5N83.5W 1008 to 16N102W to 10.5N132W. The ITCZ continues from 10.5N132W to 10N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 09N to 15.5N between 91W and 107W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 05N to 90N between 120W and 136W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Weak high pressure prevails west of Baja California. Gentle to moderate southerly winds prevail across all but the entrance to Gulf of California. Fresh westerly gap winds are occurring across the prominent gaps of north and central portions of the Gulf. Seas are generally 2 to 4 ft across the basin. Gentle to locally moderate N to NW winds prevail west of Baja California. Fresh winds continue near the coast along Punta Abreojos but will diminish a few hours after sunset. Light to gentle winds dominate the remainder of the offshore waters. Seas of 4 to 6 ft in mixed long period swells are noted across the open waters off Mexico. A weak high pressure ridge will prevail west of Baja California through the week with fairly tranquil marine conditions anticipated. Afternoon heating will produce fresh NW winds along portions of the Pacific coasts of Baja each afternoon. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Gentle winds prevail north of the monsoon trough, with gentle to locally moderate W to SW winds south of the monsoon trough. Seas are 4 to 7 ft across the offshore waters. Little change in marine conditions are expected the next few days. SW swell will propagate into the waters between Colombia and the Galapagos Islands this weekend, increasing wave heights to near 8 ft. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A surface trough extends from 32N120W to 24N128W with moderate to fresh N-NE winds and seas of 7 to 8 ft prevailing to the north of this trough. Winds and seas will decrease through the end of the week as the trough shifts slowly SE and dissipates. Otherwise, broad and weak high pressure dominates the waters north of the monsoon trough, along with gentle to moderate NE trades. Gentle to moderate southerly winds prevail south of the monsoon trough, moderate to locally fresh east of 125W. Seas of 5 to 8 ft in mixed long period swell dominate the waters.
