The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0830 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... The axis of a tropical wave is near 96W N of 02N, moving W at 10 kt. Associated convection is discussed in the monsoon trough section below. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from low pres near 12.5N80.5W 1009 mb to 14.5N105W to 09.5N140W. Scattered moderate to strong convection is noted from 08N to 15.5N between 83W and 114W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 06N to 10N between 114W and 130W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Gentle to moderate S to SW winds prevail across all but the entrance to Gulf of California tonight. Recent scatterometer data showed fresh westerly gap winds spilling into north and central portions. Seas are generally 2 to 4 ft across the basin. Active convection across portions of the Gulf in recent days associated with the remnants of Nora has shifted northeastward and across northern Mexico. Otherwise, weak high pressure prevails west of Baja California with gentle to moderate N to NW winds. Gentle W to NW winds dominate the remainder of the offshore waters, with seas of 4 to 7 ft in mixed long period swells. A weak high pressure ridge will prevail west of Baja California through the week with fairly tranquil marine conditions anticipated. Look for afternoon heating to produce fresh NW winds along portions of the Pacific coasts of Baja each afternoon. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Light to gentle winds prevail north of the monsoon trough, with moderate to locally fresh W to SW winds south of the monsoon trough, and spreading into the waters offshore of El Salvador and Guatemala. Seas are 4 to 7 ft across the offshore waters, except for a few small areas of seas to 8 ft within the areas of fresh SW winds. Mainly gentle winds will prevail north of the monsoon trough, with moderate to fresh offshore pulses expected nightly in the Papagayo region. Moderate to fresh S to SW winds south of the monsoon trough will prevail through early Wed before diminishing some thereafter. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A surface trough extends from 31N122W to 25N128W with moderate to fresh N-NE winds occurring west of the trough, and seas of 7 to 8 ft to the north of this trough. Winds and seas will decrease through midweek as the trough shifts slowly SE and dissipates. Otherwise, broad and weak high pressure dominates the waters north of the monsoon trough, along with gentle to moderate NE trades. Gentle to moderate southerly winds prevail south of the monsoon trough, moderate to locally fresh east of 125W. Seas of 5 to 8 ft in mixed long period swell dominate the waters.
