The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0030 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... The axis of a tropical wave is near 95W N of 02N, moving W at 10 kt. Associated convection is discussed in the monsoon trough section below. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from low pres near 12N80W 1009 mb to 11.5N86W to 15.5N105W to 11N140W. Scattered moderate to strong convection is noted N of 06N E of 96W, from 08N to 15.5N between 96W and 110W, and from 06N to 10N between 111W and 126W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Midday scatterometer data showed fresh SE winds across the northern Gulf of California. However, winds are assumed to have diminished, and are moderate southerly across all but southern portions of the Gulf. Seas are generally 3-4 ft except 4 to 5 ft in southerly swell across south portions. Otherwise, weak high pressure prevails west of Baja California with gentle to moderate NW winds. Gentle W-NW winds dominate the remainder of the offshore waters, with seas of 4 to 7 ft in mixed long period swells. High pressure will prevail west of Baja California through the week with fairly tranquil marine conditions anticipated. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Light to gentle winds prevail north of the monsoon trough, with moderate to locally fresh S-SW winds south of the monsoon trough. Seas are 4 to 7 ft across the offshore waters, except for a few small areas of seas to 8 ft within the fresh SW winds. Mainly gentle winds will prevail north of the monsoon trough, with moderate to fresh offshore pulses expected nightly in the Papagayo region. Moderate to fresh S to SW winds south of the monsoon trough will prevail through midweek, diminishing some thereafter. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A surface trough extends from 29N123W to 24.5N133W with moderate to fresh N-NE winds occurring west of the trough, and seas of 7 to 9 ft, to the north of this trough. Winds and seas will decrease through midweek as the trough shifts slowly SE and dissipates. Otherwise, broad and weak high pressure dominates the waters north of the monsoon trough, along with gentle to moderate trades. Gentle to moderate southerly winds prevail south of the monsoon trough, moderate to locally fresh east of 125W. Seas of 5 to 8 ft in mixed long period swell dominate the waters.
