Gulf of Tehuantepec Gale Warning: Northerly winds associated with a surface ridge across the Gulf of Mexico will funnel across the Chivela Pass into the Gulf of Tehuantepec through early Mon. These gap winds will remain at gale force through Sun morning. Maximum seas are in the 13-18 ft range this afternoon. A trough axis extends from 07N78W to 04N87W. The ITCZ axis extends from 04N90W to 02N120W to 03N140W. A second ITCZ axis extends from 02S92W to 01S116W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is from 03N to 09N E of 89W, S of 0N between 91W and 116W, from 02N to 05N between 94W and 102W, and from 01N to 06N W of 115W. Gentle to moderate winds are across most of the forecast area. Seas are 3 to 5 ft, except downstream from the gale winds in the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Gales will continue in the Gulf of Tehuantepec through Sun morning. High pressure building N of 30N through Sun night will support fresh to strong NW winds west of Baja California Norte today through Mon. NW winds will increase in the northern Gulf of California on Wed. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Light to gentle winds are across most of the forecast area. Seas are generally 2 to 4 ft. Fresh to strong NE to E winds will pulse across the Papagayo region through Mon night, generating seas to 8-9 ft. Fresh N winds are expected in the Gulf of Panama tonight through Mon night. Light to gentle winds will prevail elsewhere. Large seas from strong winds in the Gulf of Tehuantepec will spread into the offshore waters of Guatemala and El Salvador through Sun. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A weakening cold front extends across the northern waters from 30N120W to 24N132W. Moderate to fresh NE winds are north of the front with seas in the 8 to 11 ft range. An area of large NW swell, associated with the front, is supporting 11-13 ft seas in the NW part of the discussion area. The front will continue to weaken and dissipate early Sun. Strong high pressure will build north of 30N through Sun night, and support fresh to strong NW winds west of Baja California, along with an increase in trade winds north of the ITCZ Sun through Tue, with seas building to 9 to 12 ft across the western waters through early next week. $$ Ramos
