Gulf of Tehuantepec Gale Warning: Strong high pressure building southward in the western Gulf of Mexico will funnel winds across Mexico into the Gulf of Tehuantepec. These gap winds will remain at gale force through Sun morning. Maximum seas may reach 14-16 ft, especially Sat. A trough extends from 08N78W to 05N90W. The ITCZ continues from 05N90W to 04N99W, then resumes from 03N112W to 02N131W to 03N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 03N to 06N between 115W and 126W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Moderate NW to N winds prevail across the waters north of 20N including the Gulf of California, and are expected to continue through the remainder of the week, with seas of 5-7 ft. Mainly gentle winds are occurring off the west coast of mainland Mexico south of 20N, along with seas of 3-6 ft. A weakening cold front will bring increased winds and large NW swell to the waters west of Baja California this weekend into early next week. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Fresh NE to E winds are noted in and downstream of the Papagayo region. Light to gentle winds prevail elsewhere. Sea heights range from 3-6 ft. Fresh to strong NE to E winds will pulse across the Papagayo region through early next week. Seas associated with these winds will be 7-8 ft. Moderate to fresh winds will pulse over the Gulf of Panama this weekend into early next week. Light to gentle winds will prevail elsewhere. Large seas from Gulf of Tehuantepec gap winds this weekend will spread into the offshore waters of Guatemala and El Salvador. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... Moderate to fresh trade winds north of the ITCZ to around 15N are generating seas in the 5-8 ft range. A cold front from 30N128W to 24N139W will continue eastward across the waters north of 23N through Sun, while slowly weakening. Moderate to fresh winds are expected behind the front. NW swell of 8-13 ft associated with the front will continue propagating south and east through the weekend.
