The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0300 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 09N78W to 06N91W to 10N110W to 10N128W. The ITCZ continues from 10N128W to beyond 09N140W. Scattered moderate to strong convection is noted from 05N to 08N between 92W and 95W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 05N to 09N between 80W and 87W, and from 09N to 11N west of 132W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 12N to 15N between 112W and 121W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A broad ridge prevails west of Baja California. Fresh to locally strong NW winds will develop over the northern Gulf of California early Fri, then spread southward through Sat evening. Seas are expected to build to 5-7 ft inside the Gulf of California Fri through Sun. Moderate northerly winds will prevail west of Baja California. Large NW swell currently in Baja California Norte waters will spread southward and gradually subside through Sat evening. Peak seas are 13 ft west of Baja California Norte this evening. A strong cold front expected to move across the Gulf of Mexico this weekend will induce gale force winds across Tehuantepec beginning early Mon, then diminish below gale force on Tue. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Fresh NE to E winds will pulse each night in the Papagayo region. Moderate S to SW winds are expected elsewhere south of 10N. Moderate cross-equatorial swell currently over the waters off Ecuador and Colombia will reach Central America with 6 to 7 ft seas on Fri, then subside Sun through Tue. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A 1012 mb area of low pressure is centered near 16N125W. Fresh NE winds are noted within 120 nm of the low in the NW quadrant. A few showers are noted within 150 nm in the northeast quadrant. The low will shift westward overnight, then dissipate on Fri. A broad ridge extends across the northern waters north of 19N. The pressure gradient between the ridge and lower pressure associated with the convergence zone is supporting moderate to fresh NE trades north of 10N, west of 120W. Seas are 7-9 ft across this area, except 10-14 ft N of 26N in large NW swell. The area of large NW swell will continue to spread southeastward and slowly decay, through the weekend. Looking ahead, another pulse of NW swell is forecast to reach 30N140W Sat night through Sun night, with larger NW swell moving southeast into the area early next week. $$ Mundell
