Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0900 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... A tropical wave axis is along 88W, north of 01N into Central America, moving west at 15 kt. Isolated showers are noted near the wave axis. A tropical wave axis is along 100W, from 01N to 15N, moving west at 15 kt. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 08N to 11N between 99W and 103W. A tropical wave axis is along 109W, from 01N to 17N, moving west at 15 kt. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 07N to 11N between 107W and 113W. A tropical wave axis is along 128W, from 02N to 19N, moving west at 10 to 15 kt. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 11N to 15N between 126W and 130W. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 08N78W in Panama to 10N91W to 10N112W to 16N121W to 11N133W to 11N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 07N to 19N between 98W and 119W. Scattered moderate convection is observed within 120 nm on either side of the trough axis west of 125W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... The pressure gradient between a weak ridge centered near 31N133W and an elongated trough over the southwest U.S. into NW Mexico will continue to support moderate to fresh NW winds west of Baja California Norte through tonight, with 4-6 ft seas. Moderate to fresh southerly winds are expected in the northern Gulf of California through Tue night. Farther south, pulsing fresh northerly winds are possible in the Gulf of Tehuantepec region at times through Mon. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... A monsoon trough along 09N to 10N east of 90W is expected to increase convective activity near and west of Panama and Costa Rica during the next couple of days, as weak tropical waves migrate westward across the area. Gentle to moderate southerly winds will prevail south of the monsoon trough through Tue night. Moderate to fresh winds will pulse in the Gulf of Papagayo region this morning. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A weak ridge of high pressure extends over the waters north of 15N. The gradient between the ridge and the monsoon trough is supporting moderate NE trade winds north of the trough axis west of 115W. A shrinking area of cross-equatorial SE swell with 7-9 ft seas is located south of 15N and west of 125W. The area of 8 ft seas is expected to shift W of 140W by Sat night. $$ Mundell
