The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 2205 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... A tropical wave is along 89W, moving west at 10 to 15 kt. Scattered moderate convection is north of 09N between 86W and 95W. A tropical wave axis is along 99W, moving west at 10 kt. Scattered showers are present in the vicinity of the wave axis. A tropical wave axis is along 119W/120W, moving west at 10 to 15 kt. A 1008 mb low pressure accompanies this wave near 12.3N120W. Numerous moderate to isolated strong convection is noted from 08N to 16N between 117W and 127W. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 09N84W to 15N104W to 12N120W to 09N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 10N to 19N between 103W to 110W and from 09N-13N between 124W-130W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... High pressure interacting with low pressure over the southwest U.S. will continue to support fresh NW winds over north of Punta Eugenia and over the northern portion of the Gulf of California this afternoon and again Sat. In the Gulf of Tehuantepec region, fresh to strong gap winds will be possible Fri night through Sat night. These winds will support seas up to 6 ft, mixing with a component of longer period southerly swell. Remainder of the region, light to gentle winds prevail. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... The monsoon trough has remained north today near the coast of Central America with light to moderate winds in the vicinity. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are concentrated to the north in between two tropical waves near the coastal areas. This pattern will maintain scattered thunderstorms and gentle to moderate southerly winds. Pulses of fresh offshore winds are likely in the Papagayo region through Fri. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A ridge of high pressure extends over the waters north of 16N. The pressure gradient between the ridge and the monsoon trough/ ITCZ is supporting moderate NE trade winds north of the monsoon trough west of 115W which is well depicted by the earlier ASCAT data. Seas in this region range between 5 to 7 ft. Meanwhile, cross-equatorial southerly swell east of 125W will support seas of 5 to 7 feet through the week. $$ Torres/Ramos
