The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1415 UTC. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... Major Hurricane Douglas has now moved west of the the basin. Douglas is centered near 16.4N 141.9W at 24/1500 UTC moving WNW at 16 kt. Estimated minimum central pressure is 962 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 105 kt with gusts to 130 kt. Scattered moderate to isolated strong convection is noted from 12N to 17N W of 135 kt. Douglas will continue moving west away from the area, with winds, seas, and convection improving today. A tropical wave axis is near 85W, from 02N into Costa Rica, moving west at 10 to 15 kt. Numerous moderate to scattered strong convection is noted from 05N to 09N between 81W and 87W. A tropical wave is along 102W, N of 02N into Guerrero, Mexico, moving westward at 15 kt. Scattered moderate to isolated strong convection is noted from 05N to 12N between 99W and 102W. A tropical wave extends from 02N to the Revillagigedo Islands with axis near 112W, moving westward at 20 kt. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 06N to 12N between 105W and 115W. A tropical wave extends from 03N to 18N with axis near 125W, moving westward at 10 to 15 kt. Scattered moderate to isolated strong convection is from 07N to 13N between 123W and 130W. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough axis extends from 10N80W to 08N105W to 11N131W. Aside from what is noted in tropical waves section above, scattered moderate to isolated strong convection is observed from 05N to 10N between 88W and 97W. Scattered moderate convection is also noted from 05N to 09N between 102W and 105W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Gentle to moderate northwest winds are expected west of Baja California into the middle of next week. Gentle to moderate winds are expected in the Gulf of California into the weekend, with light variable winds are expected elsewhere. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Widespread showers and thunderstorms associated with an active monsoon trough and the passage of Caribbean tropical waves into the eastern Pacific will continue through early next week, for the offshore waters of Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. Moderate to fresh southerly winds will persist south of 09N through Sat. Low pressure may form west of northern Central America this weekend or early next week. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... Outside of conditions associated with Hurricane Douglas, the pressure gradient between the ridge and the monsoon trough is supporting moderate NE trade winds north of the monsoon trough west of 120W with seas in the 5 to 7 ft range.
