The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1500 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough axis extends from 08N78W to 07N90W to a 1010 mb low pressure center near 12N106W to a 1010 mb low pressure center near 08N125W. The intertropical convergence zone is located from 08N125W to beyond 06N140W. Numerous strong convection is observed from 03N to 12N to the east of 86W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 08N to 13N between 99W and 120W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Weak high pressure west of the area has dissipated, allowing a cold front to approach from the west. A surface trough is located over the Baja California peninsula, which is inducing some moderate to locally fresh winds in the far northern Gulf of California. Gentle to moderate winds prevail elsewhere over Mexican offshore waters, with 4 to 6 ft combined seas in open waters, with a component of southerly swell. No significant thunderstorm activity is noted. The cold front will enter waters offshore Baja California this afternoon, weaken as it approaches the coast tonight, then dissipate Tue. Moderate to fresh SE winds will continue ahead of the front in the northern Gulf of California. Fresh to strong NW winds and seas to 9 ft will likely follow the front mainly off Baja California Norte through late WEd as high pressure builds in. Farther south, expect pulses of fresh gap winds through the Gulf of Tehuantepec late Mon into Tue. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Generally tranquil marine weather conditions are in place over the area, with moderate south and southwest wind south of the monsoon trough and area seas averaging 4 to 6 ft. Numerous showers and thunderstorms persist offshore Colombia. Gentle to moderate winds will persist much of the week. To the south of the monsoon trough offshore Ecuador and Colombia, moderate to locally fresh SW winds are likely through tonight. The monsoon trough will likely be quite active early this weekend, leading to more significant showers and thunderstorms for the waters offshore Colombia, Panama, and Costa Rica. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A cold front is located from 30N122W to 24N140W, with NW swell of 8 to 10 ft behind it. Along the monsoon trough, a part of 1010 mb low pressure centers reside near 125W and 106W. Scattered moderate convection is associated with both lows this morning.
