The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1500 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from 07N70W to 07N90W to 09N100W. The ITCZ extends from 09N100W to 08N120W to beyond 05N140W. Numerous moderate to scattered strong convection is noted from 03N to 08N between 80W and 855W. Scattered moderate convection is also noted from 09N to 14N between 88W and 105W, and from 09N to 11N between 115W and 125W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A weakening ridge extends 1023 mb surface high pressure near 30N131W through the Revillagigedo Islands. Scatterometer data shows. Ship observations indicate moderate to fresh winds off the Baja California peninsula. Recent altimeter satellite data indicates seas are still 8 to 9 ft off Baja California Norte, mainly north of 29N. Gentle to moderate winds and 5 to 7 ft seas are noted elsewhere. Smoke may be limiting visibility near shore off southern Mexico. NW swell will persist off Baja California Norte into late week, while winds will diminish. Farther south, strong gap winds are forecast to develop in the Gulf of Tehuantepec Wed and Thu nights. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Moderate to fresh gap winds are occurring the the Papagayo region. Elsewhere light to gentle winds prevail. Seas remain 4 to 6 ft through the region. Overall marine conditions will be tranquil through the week, although nightly pulses of moderate to fresh winds are forecast in the Gulf of Papagayo. SW long period swell is likely to reach the Galapagos Islands Thu and Fri. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A high pressure ridge north of 20N maintains moderate to fresh trades over the waters across the tropical waters west of 120W. Wave heights are generally 5 to 7 ft in mixed swell. Elsewhere, moderate to locally fresh trades are noted near the ITCZ west of 110W. Gentle winds generally prevail east of 110W. Southern Hemispheric long period SW swell will move across the equator E of 130W Wed night through at least Fri, producing 8 to 10 ft seas S of 05N. $$ Christensen
