The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0900 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from 06N78W to 08N88W to 09N108W. The ITCZ extends from 05N107W to 04N129W to 04N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 04N to 08N between 89W and 97W, and from 02N to 06N between 125W and 140W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... High pressure centered near 32N133W extends a ridge SE near the Revillagigedo Islands offshore of southern Mexico. Scatterometer data shows light to gentle winds across most of offshore waters. Seas are generally 5-6 ft off Baja California Sur. Satellite analysis indicates smoke from agricultural fires has spread into the waters S of Cabo Corrientes. Haze and reduced visibilities are possible at times in coastal waters. The ridge will persist through early next week. Near gale force northerly winds are expected in the Tehuantepec region through Fri as high pressure builds behind a Gulf of Mexico cold front. NW swell will build seas west of Baja California through Sat. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Scatterometer data shows gentle to moderate winds across most of the offshore waters. Seas are 4 to 6 ft west of Central America. Fresh gap winds will pulse in the Papagayo region through Mon. Smoke from agricultural fires in Central America may cause haze and reduced visibility in coastal waters west of Guatemala and El Salvador. Elsewhere, relatively tranquil marine conditions will persist through early next week. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A ridge extends across the northern waters from high pressure centered near 32N133W. Scatterometer data shows mostly gentle to moderate trades south of the ridge west of 120W, with slightly higher winds noted near a trough that extends from 10N122W to 02N131W. Seas are generally 6-7 ft within thregion, possibly to 8 ft near the trough axis. NW swell over the far NW portion is producing 8 ft seas that will propagate SE and decay by tonight. High pressure will persist across the northern waters through early next week. NW swell will impact the waters west of Baja California tonight and Fri, building seas to 8-9 ft E of 120W by Fri morning. Looking ahead, winds and seas may increase west of Baja California Norte Sun night through Tue as high pressure builds NW of the region. $$ Mundell
