The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1500 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from 07N78W to 05N80W to 07N87W to 08N106W. The ITCZ extends from 08N106W to 09N116W, then continues from 05N128W to 04.5N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is occurring within 90 nm of the trough east of 88W, from 03N to 08N between 95W and 101W, and within 120 nm of a trough that extends from 13N117W to 04N127W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... High pressure centered near 32N133W this morning extends a ridge SE across the Revillagigedo Islands and offshore of southern Mexico. A weak low pressure trough persists across the Gulf of California. Gentle winds prevail across much of the forecast waters, with moderate winds south of Los Cabos and along the coast of southern Mexico. Seas are generally running 4-7 ft in NW swell over the northern waters, and 3-5 ft in the waters south of Cabo Corrientes. The offshore high pressure ridge will persist through Sun. Strong to near gale force northerly winds are expected in the Tehuantepec region late Thu into Fri. NW swell will build the seas west of Baja California Thu night through Sat. Winds and seas will increase offshore of Baja California Norte late Sun through Sun night as high pressure strengthens NW of the area. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... A weak pressure pattern prevails across the offshore waters this morning. Fresh to strong winds in the Papagayo region are likely producing 5-7 ft seas downstream of the Gulf of Papagayo. Moderate to locally fresh southerly winds are occurring south of a trough that extends westward from the coast of Colombia across the offshore waters. Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue on either side of this trough over the Costa Rica and Panama offshore waters. Fresh to occasionally strong gap winds will pulse over the Papagayo region through Sun. Elsewhere, relatively tranquil marine conditions will persist through the upcoming weekend. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A ridge extends southward across the northern waters from high pressure centered near 32N133W this morning. Moderate trades prevail north of the ITCZ to roughly 20N, west of 120W. A surface trough that extends from 13N117W to 04N127W is associated with locally fresh winds and seas to 8 ft, based on 12 UTC altimeter data. Altimeter data also shows a small area of seas to 8 ft in NW swell west of Guadalupe Island. Farther west, another set of NW swell entering the forecast area near 30N140W will propagate SE through tonight before decaying Thu. High pressure will persist across the northern waters through Sun. NW swell will impact the waters west of Baja California beginning late Thu, and build seas to 8-10 ft east of 125W by Fri morning.
