The ITCZ axis extends from 05N90W to 06N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 06N to 08N between 135W and 140W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A weak cold front moving through the northern Gulf of California is weakening and will dissipate later this afternoon. High pressure building in the wake of the front extending eastward to near the Revillagigedo Islands will maintain moderate to fresh NW winds west of Baja California through Sun, except fresh to strong south of Punta Eugenia through Sat morning. Northerly winds will become fresh to strong tonight through Fri night in the southern half of the Gulf of California. Gentle W to NW winds will dominate the waters between Cabo Corrientes and Tehuantepec through Sun. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... High pressure north of the western Caribbean will maintain moderate to fresh NE to E winds in the Gulf of Papagayo region through Sun. Light to gentle winds are expected elsewhere across offshore waters, except for the Gulf of Panama, where moderate northerly winds will pulse each night through the weekend. Long period SW swell will continue in the Galapagos Islands region through tonight. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... Latest scatterometer satellite data indicated fresh to strong trade winds over a large area south of a ridge extending from 1036 mb high pressure near 36N151W to the Revillagigedo Islands. Concurrent altimeter data showed seas of 8 to 12 ft mainly west of 120W. These conditions will persist through the period. Meanwhile convergence of trade wind flow in the lower levels of the atmosphere along with divergent flow aloft is supporting a few showers and thunderstorms near the ITCZ west of 135W. $$ Christensen
