The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 1400 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A trough extends from 08N87W to 04N95W. The ITCZ extends from 04N95W to 03N110W to 05N122W. Scattered moderate convection is from 05N to 12N between 123W and 137W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A weak cold front that cross Baja California Norte earlier this morning has dissipated. A second cold front entered the waters offshore Baja California Norte and stretches from N of 30N117W to 23N122W. This front will cross the Baja California Peninsula today, then weaken tonight as it moves into NW Mexico. Behind the strong, strong to near gale force W to SW winds are evidenced by morning scatterometer pass N of 25N and E of 128W. These winds will continue through today off waters ofBaja California Norte. Associated seas of up to 13 ft gradually subside tonight. Winds of similar magnitude will develop later today across the northern Gulf of California and continue into tonight. Conditions will improve Thu and Fri as high pressure builds in. A tightening gradient in southern Mexico this weekend will increase northerly winds in the Gulf of Tehuantepec early Sat through Sun, with 20 to 30 kt winds and 8-9 ft winds expected. Gentle to moderate winds and 4-6 ft SW swell are expected elsewhere through Sat. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... High pressure over the northern Caribbean will maintain fresh to strong NE to E winds over the Gulf of Papagayo region into the start of next week. Winds during this period will be highest at night. Seas of 7 to 9 ft are expected. Moderate to fresh north winds will continue south of the Gulf of Panama into Fri, with seas to 5-7 ft expected. Long period southwest swell will prevail across the region through the weekend. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... Low pressure of 1007 mb centered near 31N117W has a trailing cold front to 23N122W. This front will cross Baja California later today. Altimeter pass from earlier this morning depicted a broad area of strong W winds N of 25N and E of 128W. These winds prevail today then diminish tonight. Seas of up to 13 feet will slowly subside into Thu. A ridge will develop along 25N through Fri as high pressure builds behind the front. This ridge will strengthen trade winds west of 125W today and tonight. Another cold front will push into the NW waters Thu night, and extend from 30N130W to 24N140W by Fri evening. The associated low will become occluded this weekend, and the occluded low pressure system will introduce large long period NW swell into the NW waters on Sun, along with the potential for strong winds. $$ KONARIK
