The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0900 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... A surface trough extends from 06N77W to 05N85W to 06N95W. The ITCZ continues from 06N95W to 05N114W to 06N140W. No significant convection is noted at this time. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Gentle to moderate winds prevail over the entire forecast area this morning, with offshore seas generally 5-6 ft. Little change is expected through tonight. An approaching low pressure will move south of California on Sun, and induce fresh to strong SW winds Sun afternoon through early Mon in the northern Gulf of California, followed by strengthening winds and building seas in NW swell west of Baja California Sun night through Mon night. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Light to gentle winds prevail across most of the forecast waters this morning, except for fresh winds in the Papagayo and Gulf of Panama regions with offshore seas mainly 4-5 ft. Fresh to strong winds will pulse across the Papagayo region through Mon night, and remain fresh through the middle of next week. Fresh winds will pulse over the Gulf of Panama region through Sun night, then diminish slightly early next week. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A surface ridge extends from near 30N130W southeastward toward the Revillagigedo Islands. Moderate to fresh trade winds will continue between the ITCZ and 20N, west of 115W. Combined seas in this region are generally 7-9 ft. Trade winds will remain fresh west of 125W today, then diminish later in the weekend. A slow moving frontal system will approach the far NW waters this weekend and stall west of 140W early next week. Strong SE winds east of the front will build seas to 8-11 ft north of 20N and west of 135W Sun through Mon night. Looking ahead, NW swell will build seas to 9-12 west of 130W Tue through Wed. Expect increasing winds and building seas in NW to N swell in the waters north of 20N and east of 120W Sun through Mon night as a weakening low pressure system moves SE into the region. $$ Mundell
