The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0315 UTC. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 06N77W to 05N97W to 07N110W to 08N125W. The ITCZ continues from 08N126W to 07N132W to beyond 07N140W. Scattered moderate convection is from 04N to 09N between 85W and 110W, and from 06N to 09N W of 118W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... A cold front passes through 29N114W to 24N122W to 24N132W. The front will reach Cabo San Lazaro to 22N120W by Friday morning and then weaken before dissipating near Cabo San Lucas early on Sat. Strong to locally near gale force winds are behind the cold front and N of Punta Eugenia. These winds will continue to affect the Baja California Norte offshore waters through Fri morning. Long-period NW swell following the front, with sea heights reaching 17 feet, moves across the waters off Baja California tonight. The sea heights will start decaying tonight, however sea heights to 10 ft are expected along the Baja offshores through Sun evening. Strong NW winds are expected in the northern Gulf of California Fri morning as a reinforcing cold front moves across the Baja California Norte tonight. Otherwise, moderate to fresh northerly winds off the coast between Cabo Corrientes and Manzanillo will diminish to moderate northerly winds Mon evening. Tehuantepec: Strong gap winds will pulse tonight through Fri night, due to local drainage effects. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Fresh to strong winds are expected across the Gulf of Papagayo and downwind to near 90W through the middle of the upcoming week. Gentle to moderate south to southwest monsoon flow will persist elsewhere, across the offshore waters of Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Ecuador. Light to gentle wind flow will dominate across the Gulf of Panama, except for tonight and Fri when moderate northerlies are expected. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... A surface ridge dominates the waters N of 20N W of 125W. The pressure gradient between the ridge and lower pressure in the vicinity of the ITCZ is supporting moderate to fresh tradewinds from the ITCZ to 12N and W of 130W. A cold front extends from Baja California Norte near 29N115W to 24N124W to 24N132W. Strong to near gale force winds prevail behind the front N of 25N and E of 124W with sea heights of 12 to 18 feet N of the front. Mixed NE and NW swell is elsewhere W of 130W with sea heights to 11 ft. Seas will start diminishing on Fri, however long period NW swell with seas to 10 ft is expected to continue through the weekend. A new cold front will move across the northern waters Sunday into Monday. High pressure building behind this front will help to bring an increase to the tradewinds from 15N to 25N west of 115W starting Sat evening and continuing through early next week. $$ NR
