Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0845 UTC. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... Gulf of Tehuantepec Storm Warning: a strong cold front over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico will continue to move SE across the basin. High pressure building southward across the Sierra Madre Oriental in the wake of the front will support the next gale force gap wind event starting tonight across the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Winds will further increase and reach minimal storm force by Wed morning with seas to 22 ft. Storm conditions will prevail through early Thu while gale conditions are expected to continue through the weekend. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 06N77W to 07N93W. The ITCZ continues from 07N93W to 09N103W to 08N113W to 06N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted from 03N to 08N E of 81W. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Please see the Special Features section above for details on a gap wind event with winds reaching storm force by Wed morning over the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Strong high pressure over the Great Basin region is supporting fresh to strong force NW winds across the Gulf of California, and moderate to fresh NE winds across the Baja California Norte mountain passages and offshores. This is supporting seas to 9 ft over the offshores N of Punta Abreojos. Winds across the Gulf of California will increase to near gale force today, then will gradually decrease to 20 kt or less by Wed morning. A fresh set of NW swell will propagate into the waters off Baja California Norte Wed evening and propagate SE to near the Revillagigedo Islands through the upcoming weekend. Seas will build to near 10 ft off Baja California Norte with this new set of NW swell. OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Moderate to fresh winds are expected across the Gulf of Papagayo, increasing to fresh to strong Wed, and continuing through the upcoming weekend. Elsewhere, gentle to moderate south to southwest monsoon flow will persist across the offshore waters of Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Ecuador, while light to gentle flow will dominate across the Gulf of Panama. REMAINDER OF THE AREA... Surface ridging prevails across the waters N of 16N W of 110W and continue to support moderate to fresh trade winds N of the ITCZ to near 23N. Subsiding NW swell continues across the forecast waters with seas to 10 ft. However, a cold front over the NW forecast waters is bringing with it a new set of large NW swell with seas building to 13 ft N of 28N tonight. The front will gradually weaken and extend from 30N118W to 23N131W Wed night before dissipating. $$ Ramos
